Breastfeeding is a deeply personal experience—beautiful, challenging, and unique to every parent and baby. Whether you're preparing to nurse for the first time or you're navigating new challenges with a second or third baby, the support of a lactation consultant can make all the difference.
At Peaceful Beginnings, we believe that you deserve support that’s compassionate, informed, and free of judgment. That’s where an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) comes in.
What Does a Lactation Consultant Do?
Lactation consultants are trained professionals who specialize in helping families with infant feeding. Some of the ways we support you include:
- Helping you find comfortable breastfeeding positions
- Reading your baby’s feeding cues
- Assisting with latching and milk transfer
- Addressing painful breastfeeding, including sore nipples and breast discomfort
- Managing engorgement and milk supply concerns
You don’t have to wait until something feels wrong—many families meet with a lactation consultant to simply feel more confident, reassured, and supported.
Support for More Complex Challenges
IBCLCs are also equipped to help with more specific clinical concerns, including:
- Slow weight gain in your baby
- Concerns about tongue ties or lip ties
- Evaluating whether your baby is getting enough milk
- Ongoing nipple or breast pain despite proper positioning
We work alongside pediatricians and other healthcare providers when more in-depth evaluation or treatment is needed, ensuring a collaborative approach to your care.
Personalized Care That Centers Your Goals
One of the most meaningful parts of lactation support is creating a personalized care plan—one that reflects your feeding goals, lifestyle, and baby’s needs.
Whether your goal is exclusive breastfeeding, combo feeding, or pumping, you’ll receive expert guidance that respects your choices. My role is to walk alongside you—not to tell you what to do, but to equip you with the information and encouragement you need.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Breastfeeding isn’t always intuitive, and that’s okay. With professional, non-judgmental support, you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
At Peaceful Beginnings, I’m here to support you—from your first latch to your last nursing session, and every moment in between.
